Description

: This nature reserve is set in the Witteberg mountain range of the EFS and covers an area of (347 ha) held under one title deed, comprising mountain top terrain and two valleys. Breathtaking views in every direction, over the reserve and beyond and including the Maluti mountains of Lesotho. Special features are:

Very interesting bushman paintings located under a secluded rock overhang in the larger valley,

Ancient stone ruins including a corbelled hut situated on the mountain top at the eastern boundary of the reserve,

Mass display of aloes in season on the west facing slopes of the larger valley and Beautiful sandstone cliffs in abundance.

Currently, it forms part of a larger nature reserve of 1415 ha in total on which warthog, zebra, black wildebeest and at least eleven antelope species freely roam.
Of the antelope in particular, the 347 ha reserve is home to or mainly frequented by Steen buck, Duiker, Southern Reedbuck, Mountain Reedbuck, Springbuck, Bles buck, Eland, Red Hartebeest, Grey Rhebuck, Gems buck, Impala.
Biologically it lies in a major ecological transitional zone resulting in a great diversity of habitats and rare plant and animal communities with an affinity for rocky places, water courses and mixed vegetation, e.g. baboon, caracal, serval, jackal, fox, otter, mongoose, dassie, porcupine and many others.
Bird species associated with high mountains such as grey-wing francolin, ground woodpecker, stone chat, rock thrush, orange breasted rock jumper, rock kestrel, malachite and greater doublecollerd sunbirds, bald ibis, gymnogene, black eagle and so on.
Vegetation, inter alia, includes protea, various rhus, ouhout, kiepersol, wild olive, wild stinkwood, fynbos watsonia, erica, vingerpol, agapanthus, red hot pokers, aloe, boophane, gladiolias, brunsvigia and rooigras.

Vehicle access is through neighbouring farms, one to the top of the mountain and another to the valley. Have available full geologists report which indicates various borehole possibilities, subject to drilling. Possible dam sites exist in the larger valley and nearest Eskom point to the reserve boundary at this valley is some 300 metres away. Official subdivision approval exists for ten sectional title houses within 10 hectares on the reserve.

Ownership of the antelope, zebra, wildebeest and warthog will remain with the Seller unless otherwise negotiated in the event of a sale...
